A further 106 site rows still carry a recruiting flag on studies the registry has marked Unknown status — not verified by the sponsor in over two years. They are on the live map but left out of the counts here; check the registry record before you email one.

The US lead is real but thinner than the raw count suggests, because a single multi-site study can contribute a dozen rows. China's 12 sites are the number most people find surprising; ketamine research there has scaled quickly and much of it never reaches English-language coverage.

California, New York and Texas hold the most sites, but Maryland punches far above its population because of the NIH and Johns Hopkins concentration around Baltimore. If you're within driving distance of a major academic medical center, your odds are better than the state totals imply.

Read the study, not the site. A recruiting site tells you where a trial is running; the study record tells you what you'd actually be enrolling in, including the compound, the phase, the placebo arm and the enrollment target. Both are linked from every record in the index.

Then check the exclusions honestly. Most psychedelic protocols rule out psychosis and bipolar I history in first-degree relatives, not only in you, and many require tapering off SSRIs under supervision, which takes six to eight weeks. People lose their slot by discovering this late far more often than by failing a screen. The enrollment walkthrough covers the rest.
